Solar Electric (Photovoltaic) Types
We install the following three types of Solar Electric Systems.
GRID TIE IN SYSTEMS
These systems are the most common for installation in both residential and commercial applications. The energy from the solar panels is directed through an inverter and into the electric panel of the building. A special meter is installed by the utility company that allows input from the solar system to slow or reverse energy flow from the utility. The owner of the solar electric system recieves one-to-one credit for the wattage his system puts into the grid.
GRID TIE IN WITH BATTERY BACKUP SYSTEMS
These systems work in the same way as the above systems and have added battery back up to supply power to selected circuits in case of a utility power outage.
STAND ALONE SYSTEMS
These systems are designed to supply all of the power needs for off-the-grid applications. Battery back up capacities are larger than in grid tie systems. Careful planning and use of energy efficient appliances and lighting must be incorporated into the design of these systems.
